junior sociologist and social practitioners network to be created within ISA

The junior sociologist network invites young academic scholars (graduate scholars and early career faculty) and social practitioners (NGO and other activist groups) to join their newly formed group. The Junior sociologist network grew out of the experience of participants of the ISA's Junior Sociologists Workshop XVI World Congress of Sociology, Durban, South Africa, 2006.

The participants felt this workshop was an enriching experience, providing opportunities unavailable in the thematic sections of the ISA, or in national or regional scholarly forums. The Network aims to discuss, share and produce knowledge and social experiences about a changind world, and is now affiliated with the ISA. The Network will provide a forum for promising young scholars to engage in international exchanges at an early stage in their career, The network plans on holding sessions at the next ISA World Congress held on July 11-17 in Goteborg, Sweden.
